About This Auction

Leading our prestigious Evening Auction this spring, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is honoured to present a distinguished selection of works by Modern and Contemporary Masters. This season we have a very strong line-up of works for sale, including a late iconic painting by American Abstract Expressionist painter Joan Mitchell; a large, rediscovered masterpiece by Sanyu; a fresh-to-market Zao Wou-Ki oracle bone painting from a private European collection; an important painting by Mark Rothko from his multiform series; two outstanding Yayoi Kusama pumpkin works and much more. In conjunction with the auctions, we are presenting a museum-quality exhibition titled Beyond the Abstract, which will be the most comprehensive survey of abstract art ever staged in Greater China.
