Robert Gross
Robert Gross, born in Mahattan, New York, graduate of New York School of the visual Arts, painted most of his life in Davie, Florida, documenting the disappearing natural landscapes. His style is that of the masters and he has been widely recognized as a master painter himself. His works are the next evolution of the masters and can be shown along side them. His works show a delicacy, precision, and vision unmatched anywhere in the art world. He had the ability to capture as much detail in the painting of transitional light and air just as much as a lily pad or tree. He wanted to show you a seldom seen warmth and beauty in the serenity of nature that you might walk by daily and miss. His works have been on display in the museums of New York City and South Florida. Robert shied away from the spotlight though and purposely avoided fame and fortune. So much as that he even turned down minor-league contracts from the New York Yankees and New York Mets baseball teams so he could pursue his art. He chose to live the lifestyle more of a monk, although he found joy and community friendship teaching art classes until the age of 85. His older brother, Charles Gross, accomplished and acclaimed artist (creator of the famous Star Wars bed sheets from the 1970's, and revolutionary in the industry) had Robert painting meticulously as soon as he could hold a brush. Together Robert and Charles would venture at an incredibly early age to the museums of New York City to sit and paint in recreation of the great works they were seeing. And indeed much like Venus Williams, Charles would help train a and mold a Serena Williams of the art world. Robert Gross is survived in the art world by niece, Amy Gross, who is a mind-blowing fiber sculptor artist of prominence located in South Florida. He is also survived by his son Peter Gross who is the curator of his amazing collection that will now be released to the world.
