Laura Aldridge
Laura Aldridge is a sculptor working with a variety of materials including photography, screen-print, ceramics and fabric. Born in 1978, in Frimley, Aldridge studied at the Wimbledon School of Art before going on to complete her MFA from the Glasgow School of Art. Moving between wall-based reliefs and sculptural installations, she uses fabric, images and found objects to create installations that the artist describes as ‘expanded collage’. With an interest in building a scene that engages with the viewer, her works often explore touch, challenging the boundaries between the natural and artificial. Aldridge has exhibited widely with notable solo shows held at Curfew Gallery in Edinburgh, Peles Empire in Berlin, Transmission Gallery and Tramway in Glasgow, Passerelle Centre D'Arte Contemporain in Brest, and Studio Voltaire in London. Her works are also held in a number of public and private collections including the British Council Collection. Laura Aldridge lives and works in Glasgow.
