Bruce Metcalfe
Bruce Metcalf’s pins and necklaces have been exhibited internationally, and can be seen in a number of books about contemporary art jewelry. His work has been included in over 400 national and international jewelry exhibitions in the past 45 years, including “Ornamenta 1” at the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim in 1989. His work has been collected by major institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Metcalf’s writing on modern craft has been published widely, and he co-wrote Makers: A History of American Studio Craft with critic Janet Koplos in 2010. One of his articles, “Replacing the Myth of Modernism,” has been cited as one of the seminal texts in contemporary craft theory. Metcalf has contributed chapters to a number of craft theory anthologies, and he also writes for his own blog, CraftGadfly.​
